We want children to develop the skills of an effective, lifelong learner and build successful relationships. We want our children to build on their natural enthusiasm for movement by developing their skilfulness and knowledge of the body in action through exposure to a range of sports and activities. We aim to encourage our children to be creative, competitive and face challenges as individuals and in groups and teams. As a school, we encourage and hope that pupils will discover their aptitudes, abilities and preferences, making choices about how to get involved in lifelong physical activity. We also want children to demonstrate the key values of our school within their learning which are: respect, resilience and aspirations. Our vision is that children will work towards their personal goals, challenging themselves to better their achievements and celebrate and support each other in their learning journeys.
We follow the GetSet4PE Scheme of work as a base for adaptation and development as it extensively covers a variety of sports and skills that we expect our pupils to develop.
Our PE curriculum covers several disciplines/areas, they are:
- Games – invasion, net and wall, striking and fielding
- Health Related Fitness
We provide a wide range of opportunities for all of our children to attend during and after school activities/clubs, these are run by staff and trained professionals.
We also have trained play-leaders running exciting lunchtime activities and additional sporting opportunities.
In addition to this we provide many opportunities for all pupils to attend sporting competitions and festivals throughout the academic year. School, cluster, SSP, Norfolk School Games and festivals help to build character and ensures that the children become physically confident.
The aim is that our extensive PE curriculum will impact greatly on our children’s ability to acquire the knowledge, skills and understanding needed to make appropriate choices about their physical and mental health. The curriculum will develop positive self-awareness in children as they become physically competent. They will also demonstrate a healthy attitude to competition, showing respect for individuals, teams, officials and coaches.
